Auf Wiedersehen

Our last full day in Germany. Sigh.

We had one last ice cream and one last bike ride into Dettlbach:

Dennis is heading home and the girls are pedaling back to England.

Auf Wiedersehen!!!

Heading back "home" to Schnepfenbach

Check-out day at Gastehaus Leykauf. Lots of time in the Autobahn for the group:

A final visit to the lake:

Lunch at a restaurant just off the Autobahn:

Because it was there:

Home!

For now.

Garmisch

Wednesday was our final full day in the Alps. Our plan was to drive down to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (host of the 1936 Winter Olympics), but the kids (Frank included) insisted on more Sommerrodelbahn first!

Dani insisted on breaking the rules and went down by herself today:

On the Autobahn to Garmisch:

This is much easier for the gardeners in Oslo:

Lots of paintings on houses:

Reminder of home:

Cafe for lunch:

and then dessert:

Dennis & Frank practice for the world skiing championships in February:

Final shot:

A "slow" day near Tegernsee

On Tuesday we took it easy and just hung around the beautiful Tegernsee area. Another view, this time from the bathroom:

We started out with a 2-hour hike.

Which way to go?

Towards flowers!

Sydney wants to take a group photo:

Dani and Daddy by the rapids:

It did rain a little.

Even the anthills are big in the Alps:

The sisters

love horses

and cows?

After our hike we need to put the calories back on (this is a vacation of course):

A little cream and coffee ...

And huge Alpine cakes!

A tornado ripped through the area:

Heading out:

To the Sommerrodelbahn!!!!!! You have to do the Alpine slides in the Alps, right??

We received no instruction, signed no waivers and took our lives into our own hands. Unknowingly. Video to follow.

Beautiful views on the ride up:

This place has it all. Playground:

Guinea pigs:

Bunnies and chicken:

Zipline!

And the day concluded with another traditional German dinner:

I did go back and get my hat on another run.
